Rebecca Simon is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She was born in 1983 and grew up in Syracuse, New York. She received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. The following year, Rebecca attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a post-baccalaureate certificate in painting. In January 2010, Rebecca received her MFA from Hunter College in New York City.
Through the prism of absurdity and poignancy, Rebecca's work explores social and psychological tension. Ranging in subject from awkward family gatherings to the downtrodden Wall Street banker, Rebecca's paintings invite reflection on themes of gender, cultural norms, and power.
